Reinaldo Valenzuela
Northern Colorado Family Lawyer

How Can We Help You?

Reinaldo Valenzuela (also known as “Rei”)  is a Northern Colorado family lawyer at Choice City Family Law, LLC.  Rei draws from a wide range of professional experiences that allow him to provide meaningful representation for his clients.  After graduating from Boston University, Rei spent the next ten years working in the area of child welfare.  He worked as a caseworker in Massachusetts with Spanish speaking families who had open cases with the Department of Children and Families.  He then supervised a child welfare unit providing case management, foster care, and adoption services in Boston, Massachusetts.  Rei then moved back home to Arizona where he worked as a child abuse investigator for the Department of Child Safety.  After law school, Rei moved to New York where he spent sixteen years honing his litigation skills with two large law firms, where he litigated workers’ compensation, insurance defense, disability law, municipal law, employment law, and family law.  Prior to relocating to Colorado, Rei worked as an Assistant County Attorney, prosecuting dependency and neglect cases.

Reinaldo Valenzuela’s Approach: Listening and Listening

Rei’s approach with his clients is to listen, and then to listen again.  Rei brings an innovative approach to working with clients by understanding the details of their story and helping them see the bigger legal picture.  Rei understands that there are a lot of ingredients that go into making a pie, but at the end of the day, you are serving one pie.  Rei possesses the ability to work with clients and at the outset of his representation, take innumerable facts and render them down into a concise, coherent legal strategy – a strategy designed to reach the realistic goals of his clients.

Strong Litigation and Negotiation Skills

Rei’s clients have the added benefit of his experience prior to law school and his strong litigation background in multiple practice areas.  His previous experience in these areas provides him with a unique perspective and skill set, which enables him to successfully navigate the many issues in family law.  Rei has learned that the ability to negotiate a fair and reasonable resolution is usually in the best interest of his clients when they are going through dependency and neglect matters.  However, sometimes litigation is necessary and Rei has the experience to take a case to Court where he is the dedicated advocate of his clients’ needs and wants.

Guardian ad Litem

Rei also practices as an attorney for the Office of Child’s Representative (OCR) as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL), for children in Dependency and Neglect cases, appointed to represent the best interest of the child.  His background allows him to explain the confusing legal processes to his clients so they can understand their rights, obligations, and options and to help those clients make the best decisions for their children.

Reinaldo Valenzuela’s Education and Bar Admissions

After graduating from Boston University with a Bachelor in Religion and Philosophy, Rei began his first career working with families.  He then returned to school and earned his Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School.  While at BCLS, Rei participated in Moot Court, and provided legal services through the Boston College Legal Services LAB, a community legal services office, a law firm within the law school.  Rei graduated in 2003 and was admitted to practice in New York in 2004.  In 2019 Rei was admitted to practice in Colorado.
